CURIOSIDADES

• La letra de esta canción trata sobre Luis XVI, que fue rey de Francia durante el inicio de la revolución francesa. En ella, el pueblo se reveló contra el gobierno (puede verse reflejado en varias partes de la canción). El Rey es el que canta la canción, mientras ve cómo se desmorona su reinado y termina siendo decapitado.

• Joe Satriani, en 2008, demandó a Coldplay ante la Corte Federal de Los Ángeles por violación de derechos de autor. Según él, ésta es un plagio de su canción "If I Could Fly". Coldplay dijo que "Viva la Vida" fue compuesta antes que la suya.

• Pep Guardiola usaba esta canción para motivar a los jugadores de FC Barcelona antes de varios partidos, y así se convirtió en una de las claves de las victorias.
